Welcome, potters.
I'm Amos, owner of Bad Kitty Ceramics -- a 3D printing shop and ceramics studio.
Our cozy little shop is situated in rural Kentucky, where we get dirty and play with fire. But we do more than just pottery. Here, in our Etsy shop, we have one aim: to make superior tools for our fellow pottery enthusiasts.
From turning our very own tool handles from reclaimed and salvaged wood to printing workspace tools and accessories, we offer a wide range of tools to compliment your style.
Occasionally, we get our hands on really rare woods like ebony or purple heart, and even enormous grape vines!, and we do our best to transform these raw materials into beautiful tools. Looking for a gift? It's hard a top a set of carbide trimming tools with handles made of African ebony (the same wood used to make black keys on Steinway pianos).
Our process:
We use 3D design software like OnShape and Fusion360 to create renderings of our products, which sometimes takes days. Then we transfer the files to slicing software that converts the rendering into numeric code. This code is instructions, which is uploaded to one of our many CNC machines or 3D printers, where the actual manufacturing process begins. We use CNC lathes like the Sherline 4400 or our BadKitty207 CNC lathe and milling station (custom built by us) to make wooden products, while our fleet of Prusa printers silently work day and night to provide quality, waterproof accessories printed from PETG plastics.
Our name:
If you have a cat, you understand their fascination with gravity's effects on falling objects. We have three studio cats. You read that correctly. Three. 😵💫 So many broken things...
But we love them! 🫡
We are a growing family:
Our team stretches far and wide, with collaborative artists joining us from across the USA regularly. These potters out in the real world give us vital feedback about our work and help us improve.
To that end, we create and test our items right here in Kentucky before sending them out for further testing. Only later, after any needed design modifications, will they appear in our Etsy listings. From concept to finished product, our items are 100% our creations.
Have questions or want to chat? Send us a message! Tell us what you do, what tools you'd like us to own, or tell us about your ideas for tools and accessories. And show us your cats! (Everybody loves cat pics, right?) We look forward to hearing from you!
